Inside Out #003

Inside Out #003

So Thursdays gym assessment went well. Improvements all round! So mission complete! Now I just have to continue to find the right balance in the whole exercise and eating departments of life. In the spirit of activity and such things It's a Challenge are the thoughts of the beginning of this weight loss challenge

It's a Challenge

Clip clop, stomp stomp,
I troop home with purpose.
With confusion, frustration and determination.
Bad news.
Something needs to change, and though it's for the better, there are sacrifices that have to be made.
It's a challenge.
A hill to climb.
A mountain in my mind.
But ultimately a desirable result is in the cheivement.
The climb: self control.
Beginning Monday... No... Now? Tonight? Yes.

Early Bird Gets the Worm

So tomorrow is D day! The truth of the results of my serious dieting and weight losing habits for the last few months will be measured. And I'm looking forward to it because I've made progress and lost what I wanted to lose. The 5kg are gone. Hopefully all the other results combined reflect well too. Skin folds, fitness and strength. Only thing is the appointment is at 7. Which means a 6.10ish alarm, an even earlier start than usual. And a rush out the door. So I must sleep now. Haven't had to get up that early in ages! Unless you count this time last week when I got up and 1.30am to finish that final work for the completion of my first year of Graphic Design. Woo! Achievement is such a satisfying thing.

So very tired

Drained as ever. I think now that the studies are done for the year I'm about to just collapse into a heap. It's ridiculous. Apart from working and the gym I've added nothing more strenuous to my day and I am as exhausted as ever! Just so very tired.

The awkward moment when you realise that you've been walking with your headphones in for a good five minutes and haven't even turned any music or the radio on!

That's as much as my brain will produce at the moment!

The Flave #001

So "Summer holidays" are finally here and no more excuses not to get some of these personal little projects done. Here is another branch on my blog tree. The Flave! The Flave is where I will tell you about what I think of music, movies and other things in this direction. So here we go!

The Flave #001

Bought Morning Glory on DVD a few weeks ago. Just one of those ones that I wanted to get, especially with Rachel McAdams. Watched it last week and to be honest was a little disappointed. I guess I didn’t expect a whole lot from it but I just found it a bit too predictable and typical I think. Might have been in the wrong mood to watch that kind of movie at the time. 6/10.

The Last Kiss was another one I purchased not that long ago. It’s been on my list to watch for a long while, half because of Rachel Bilson. Yes, I tend to have a soft spot for actresses with my name. Anyways, apart from wanting to have a good talking to the leading male character Michael, Zach Braff, for his obviously stupid decisions I did quite enjoy the film. I guess it was quite real, the sort of thing that is happening all the time, it wasn’t a typical fairytale though they did seem to live happily in the very end. Rachel played an outgoing college student who was prepared to push the boundaries and go after an older man in the middle of a bit of a dismal realization that he had no surprises left in his predictable life. His partner finds out what he was doing behind her back and seems set to never forgive. I guess it showed that sometimes, no matter how much someone hurts you, if they’re important enough in your life you’ll forgive just about anything. 7.5/10.

Watched The Switch with a friend on the weekend. We went and got some delicious Cold Rock, I had coffee and spearmint choc chip with peanut M&Ms, and Malteasers if you were wondering. Was divine! And so was the movie. I really loved it. Jennifer Aniston (Whom I have a soft spot for because she played Rachel on Friends of course!) was cute along with Jason Bateman who I first saw in Juno and didn’t love because of his character but have since seen in many movies and I think this is my favourite of his. He played his cynical character perfectly. But the movie would not have been anywhere near as good as it was without the adorable little Thomas Robinson who played Sebastian, the little boy in the film. He is just the cutest little kid. Beyond adorable! I loved it. 9/10.

It’s actually ages since I first heard Ed Sheeran’s A team song. I believe I’ve mentioned it before on here. And now they seem to be playing it more and more. And I’m more and more in love with it. So had to check out what else he’s got and will be purchasing his album at the next opportunity that I have! He seems like the sweetest thing! And his songs are just so cute! And if you look him up you’ll see he’s a bit of a cutie himself! I think I have a bit of a soft spot for red heads since my Dad is …was one (sorry Dad!). So I will let you know what I think of that when I get to it. Watch this space!

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 Soundtrack, of course I bought it the day it came out, a couple of weeks ago now. In all honesty at the moment I haven’t fallen in love with it like I fell for the Eclipse, New Moon and Twilight film soundtracks. I particularly love the Bruno Mars song, It Will Rain. Also definitely love the Christina Perri track, A Thousand Years. Typically. I like the Angus and Julia Stone track,  Love Will Take You, but I do like some of their other stuff better. One of my favourite tracks is Northern Lights by Cyder Sky, it’s really lovely.  And Neighbors by Theophilus London, Turning Page by Sleeping at Last, Requiem On Water by Imperial Mammoth were other tracks that I gave a 4/5 on my iTunes along with the Flightless Bird, American Mouth (Wedding Version, the original is on the Twilight soundtrack). Overall I’m content, just maybe not as in love as I would have liked to be. I am of course extremely keen to see the film, which I believe was released yesterday. Probably won’t get to see it until next week though.

Last Sunday I managed to get tickets along with a friend to Kings of Leon! Which I was extremely excited for! We both were. And boy did they deliver! They were absolutely fantastic! I had Pyro (from their Come Around Sundown Album) Stuck in my head for the next few days. Though I enjoyed the performances of Use Somebody, Be Somebody and Sex on Fire (of course!) the best. They were so awesome though! Rod Laver was of course packed out which made the atmosphere just brilliant. There is just something so awesome about being in an arena full of fans come together to see one of their favourite bands!

Freedom!

So I’ve deviated from the mission of having at least one post every three days. But I have a good excuse! The end of the second semester has been keeping me busy over the last few days. But no more. Cert IV is over! The studying year is over. And I can’t believe it. I can’t believe it’s been nearly ten months since moving to Melbourne and beginning this Bitter Sweet Experience! But it has been that long! And now, today, I have finally submitted the last of the work for the year, just this morning in fact. Right before rushing to the station to get my ticket to finally go home.

So this week, had class on Monday before interviews on Tuesday. Was a bit nervous, but not terribly as I know I’ve done all the work. I had everything submitted except that last brief that I handed in this morning. So the interview went rather well. Hopefully I can continue to up hold the standard that they have come to expect next year! So after the interviews, and of course it being a Tuesday, despite feeling just as keen for a night in as a night out (I’d spent half the day walking and at the gym) it was time for a night out. Though I also needed to finish that last brief and wasn’t sure how I was going to fit in getting it done. Unfortunately it was raining so some didn’t stay out that long, It was a good night though. But I crawled into bed at 4am dreading my 6.30 alarm in only two and a half hours. And sure enough after what felt like a 10 minute nap my phone started playing my alarm of Justin Timberlake’s Sexyback song. After snoozing some more I rushed through the shower and got ready to go and hoped that the tiredness would ware off once I got going. But sure enough even once I was at work for the first hour I was beginning to get stressed at the fact that I think I was nearly nodding off every ten minutes. Don’t know why I didn’t have a coffee sooner but thank goodness when I did it worked it’s magic and the caffeine kicked in and I was feeling not so almost asleep. Thank goodness for coffee! So I was well and truly keen to go home when 5.30 rolled around. And sure enough once I got home I went to bed and slept until 1.30 am. And I think I only woke up because of this stinging nasty pain in my finger, somehow I managed to cut myself in my sleep! Anyway, I had planned to wake at some such hour, since I would have had about seven hours of sleep by this time. Why? Because I needed to get that last brief finished so I could submit it and be finished and get on the midday v-line to get home. So from 1.30 till about 9 I finally got it all finished up along with this other workbook I had to complete for something else. So total freedom was almost felt at this point. After rushing around packing my bag I had a few mouthfuls of muesli before rushing out the door so I could go and submit my work and still get a ticket and get into Southern Cross in time! And I made it, I managed it! Done. FREEDOM!

Was totally cut when I got into southern cross and my favourite coffee shop, Coffee HQ is closed down along with the newsagents! Everything is closed down there on the Ground floor, all these walls are up and about the place there are signs promising “exciting new retailers”. But all I wanted was my HQ coffee! And desktop magazine as I still haven’t been able to get my hands on the latest issue which must have been out a month by now! I was forced to go without the magazine and get a coffee from somewhere else. And it was really disappointing when I took the lid off and the lack of froth on my regular skinny cap! That’s my favourite part, taking off the lid and getting into that froth. And it wasn’t really there at all. Definitely not as good as HQ! I did decide that since I am finished everything I would treat myself to a ham cheese and tomato croissant, which is divine! Gosh I do enjoy a croissant. All that butter!

So now I’n sitting on the train with this wonderful feeling of accomplishment. Like a weight lifted from my shoulders. Though totally exhausted as I realize I’ve already had more than a twelve hour day! Yet somehow I’m not drifting off to sleep… yet.

It’s been nearly three weeks since I’ve been home to the country. And I am so excited to be going home. Have definitely missed the family the last few weeks. Three weeks is a really long time!

Hope that didn't bore you! Thanks for reading if you actually got through it all!

Eleven-Eleven-Eleven

So it's the 11th of the 11th in 2011. A rare date if ever there was one! And I hope this rare dated Remembrance Day has brought you something special and put a smile on your dial as well as given you the opportunity to take a moment to remember.

I'm pretty happy because as you may remember at the beginning of September I mentioned in Where did August go? that I wanted to lose 5kg. So since then I've been on a pretty strict diet, except for sometimes a little break and over indulgence on weekends and plenty of gym sessions. But despite all that after weighing in today I have now finally lost that 5kg! I'm so excited to have finally achieved it! And I really can't wait for my next gym assessment! Which won't be for another week or so yet. But I'm so keen for it. So so keen! So the hard work has paid off! It took a little longer than I had hoped but perhaps it was a healthier pace to have lost the weight in anyway. So there you go! I set my mind to something and I achieved it. And you can do it too! It just takes some serious discipline and will power and you have to really want to do it. But you can, whatever it is that you want to do!

Hoping to get you a bit LINKspired today.

LINKspired #002

SwissMiss posted this Lifecycle video by Holstee and I just found it really inspiring and uplifting so I suggest you view. It's quite gorgeous! Holstee in general looks like a kind of cool site! It's a business that started out with the design of a t-shirt made 100% of recycled material and featured a unique holster pocket.  Clearly into using recycled materials they now have a large range of other items made out of recycled materials! Such as this rather cute and bright upcycled wallet. Worth a look just to admire there innovative creativity!

Designspirtation is full of A LOT of (I'm sure you can guess) inspiringly awesome links to many talented beings work! I came across this poster (or just a card, not entirely sure) that I really like. I love what it says and I love the design!

As always desktop never fails to inspire me! My pick of their posts that shows you this clever crafty paper work to create the design for this arteuparte magazing cover competition. The design is just fantastic! It's by Noelia Lozano, which is worth a look at there work because they make some pretty awesome stuff!

Hope you enjoy those, I sure did!

Volcanic eruption...

So it's final week of classes, and it's a mixture of stress, joy and a tinge of disappointment that the year is so close to being done. But as it draws closer the more I realise there are certainly some things that I'm glad will be ending for a while! So that's where the joy comes into it. Joy that it will be "holidays". And then there is the stress because I have so little time to do many many hours of catch up work to get everything submitted by end of semester interviews next week. So the lesson is kids, stop procrastinating! It really does just amount to a mountain of work and and eruption of stress to accompany it. But you already knew that! You already knew the volcano you were creating when you let the indecision get the better of you and started that contagious bug of procrastination. So yes, I best get back to it!

Inside Out #002

Inside Out #002

Funny Things We Are

I sit and watch on as hundreds pass.
Pass busily on their way,
destinations of work and appointments, uni and other things,
passing strangers different and alike,
some sharing a common journey,
others on their way in the opposite direction.
But they don't talk, they don't know that person,
sometimes you're lucky if you get a smile.
Humans... funny things we are.

believe in it

It has been a massive long weekend! Many good times shared with many of the best! And now I think I'm all a bit confused as to what part of the week we're really up to. Is it Tuesday now?

Went and saw In Time. Was ridiculously excited just because I could be. And it definitely lived up to where I wanted it to be. Definitely recommend viewing! Beside the fact that it stars the gorgeous Amanda Seyfried and stud Justin Timberlake and a cast to follow that is of course all rather attractive because they're all supposed to be twenty-five, I just love the concept of the film and the world they live in. It's pretty cool! 9/10 I'll give it. Go and check it out!

In February I posted this quote on my blog (is perfection actually possible?). As it is less than a month now until second semester is done I'm feeling the very same problems mentioned in that particular post very problematic. The quote is so good though, at the risk of repeating myself...

“Some of us (perfectionists, especially) fuss so much over making the 'right' choice, but in life, all that's really needed is to make any 'good' choice, believe in it, go through with it, and accept the consequences.”  Here.

So I better do some believing and smash out the final briefs for the semester before I fail just because I let the procrastination bug eat me before I could make the deadlines!
