Talks Like a Gentleman, Like You Imagined...

So yesterday I attended the Melbourne Big Day Out for my second time. Early on hadn't planned to go. Last year was amazing but the line up this year didn't grab me so I thought I'd save my pennies and give it a miss. It was kind of late planned as another friend was super keen for the line-up and after not having gone to any other festivals this season I thought why not. Unfortunately in the end the keenest of my friends wasn't able to join us on the adventures of the day but I am so glad that we had bought tickets anyway. It was fantastic. Just grand times really!

So I now definitely have a few cases of band love going on after seeing both Vampire Weekend and The Killers live I now feel a deeper love for them than I had before. Especially The Killers. The Killers were just absolutely amazing. Even though I wasn't on track with my listening and hadn't taken the time to get tuned into their newer stuff properly... Wow. The lead singer, Brandon Flowers, just had you in this trance the whole time! Could barely take my eyes off him! such a sexy man! And I'll never forget jumping around to their most established works. Mr. Brightside. Which they did open with. And of course Somebody Told Me. Originally I was keen to run over to 360 and catch his last few songs so we planned to leave The Killers early. Then I realised they would be doing When we were young as the closing song and we just had to stay! And I'm more than glad we did. It was probably the highlight of the day. The most memorable of moments. Wowee! The Killers! You've got me!

And Vampire Weekend were good fun and also played fantasticly. The squash of the crowd to get in for them was rather intense but totally worth it!

Shall be getting my hands on as much of The Killers and Vampire Weekend as I can!

We also checked out Sampology, Seth Sentry, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Animal Collective, Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Bloody Beetroots rocking it out till the very end an they were pretty bloody brilliant. So for a line-up I wasn't originally fussed on it sure was a fantastic Big Day Out! Great way to spend Australia Day 2013!

Check out my Instagram for pictures. Though stupidly didn't have my phone very hatched and was using the camera very sparingly all day!

Hope yours was as fantastic as mine no matter what you did!

Quite happy with the Triple J Hottest 100 number one, Thrift Shop by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Ft. Wanz. And good to see that they also came in at fifteen with Same Love Ft. Mary Lambert which is my favourite song right now. Keen for the CD to come out. It's always a wait that seems to take forever!

Arts.

“Go into the arts. I’m not kidding. The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven’s sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an an enormous reward. You will have created something.”
- Kurt Vonnegut

(via SwissMiss of course.)

Happy Friday-ing!

I've been almost feeling allergic to having this 4 day long weekend coming up...

Strange right?

I'm gonna make it super productive. It's gonna be good. My head is racing with lists I need to make!

First up Friday morning gym class.

Happy Friday-ing!

Magnificently busy!

Life, as per usual has been busy! Magnificently busy! Of course this is tiring but also fantastic because as I'm sure you've noticed (I know you've been stalking me and reading all my blogs an paying a lot of attention ;) ) I love some chill time and a holiday as much a anyone else but I really do love being busy. In fact if I'm not busy I just feel kind of bad. Practically guilty. Like I'm just wasting time. Though I know its not bad for you and if you can afford not to be working all the time you should make the most of it...

Over a week and a half ago now I went for an internship interview which I'm more than pleased and proud to say that I secured and began the following Monday! Pretty excited and loving it thus far! I feel so lucky to have landed the gig!

Also, thankfully classes have gone back at my gym which is awesome because I've really missed my dose of exercise with the gym crew. I've been back doing my own thing for over a week already but there is nothing like the motivation of a group fitness class with a group of people you just generally enjoy the company of!

It's also been an especially fabulous week as I had two of my favourite people in the world, two of my best friends, two of my sisters come to visit me and join me for some grand fun.

After I put them through their paces with my gym class we went out for some tasty dinner where I tried to give them a bit of culture and try something they wouldn't always have. We had some dumplings and other bits and pieces. It was delish!

We hit up the Australian Open which unfortunately we could only go on the hottest day of the week. On Thursday with a forecast high of 39 degrees or so. We sweated it out court side on show court three despite the fact we weren't moving. It was the hottest part of the day and i still cant believe how hot it was. More than feel bad for all the players who had to play their matches that day! Watched Australian player James Duckworth battle through a 5 set match which after 5 hours and what looked like some painful cramping up he unfortunately couldn't close out the match with the score to his favour. Was feeling a bit sympathetic towards his opponent as he really did begin to cop it from the crowd as the match wore on an to his credit he managed to outlast the abuse and outrun Duckworth to progress onwards. As for the girls and I, by the time the match finished we were glad to go and find some shade. Thankfully our religious, on the hour sunscreen applying for the most part of the day saved us from the sun and we got away with little to no sunburn at all! We watched Del Potro breeze through his unseeded opponent and watched the very end of Gasquets match before heading home. Despite the heat it was still a good day but will definitely be more mindful of such a warm forecast next time!

Friday we made a real day of it and had a breakfast at The Coffee Club, breakfast at noon! A breakfast I will probably dream about for quite some time! It was the Gourmet bacon & egg turkish roll. It was just so amazingly deliciously good! Like tastebud crazy! Possibly because we had it so late and were super hungry by the time we had it! But still, soooo good! We then spent the rest of the day shopping and managed to find some brilliant bargains before the girls introduced me to another amazingly delicious treat... my new love... a frappuccino at Starbucks. I had White Chocolate Mocha one which was quite literally heaven in a cup! Divinely fabulous party in my mouth!

Wow I just love to eat so much! Also had a delish vegetable bagel which was tasty as! Don't think I've ever had a bagel before!

All in all I had the grandest time. Though when my sisters are involved I generally always do. Hopefully they had as much fun as I did!

I then went home with them for the weekend which was nice. I miss my family all the time and just wish there was a way for us to live closer but still live in the places we do. I really love Melbourne but I also really love home!

A bit excited I finally got my hands on the Puberty Blues book by Kathy Lette and Gabrielle Carey and have even already finished reading it! I know it's only a short one but I always feel accomplished after finishing a book no matter how short it is! So I shall finally begin watching the TV series which I bought ages ago and have been making myself wait to read the book.

Also watched My Week With Marilyn which was so beautiful and I just loved it. And also Rock of Ages. I shall elaborate on these in my next The Flave!

I'll leave it there for the moment though I could go on. If you got through all that, thank you for reading!

Deflated...

Wow, just found this though I thought I posted it over a week ago!

Friday 11th January:
Thank god it's Friday. Thank god it's the weekend. For some reason or another I was fine this morning. I got up and out the door by quarter to 7 to catch the bus to get to work. It was a lovely morning. I was feeling fine. I even finally finished reading the Twilight add on book The Short Life of Bree Tanner! Finally. Got to work and I was fine until it hit about 11 and then I just seemed to totally deflate. Like a balloon with a tiny hole where the air just began to deep out and as the day wore on I feel like I got slower and slower until it was time to leave work and I didn't really know how I was going to make it through my planned gym sesh! It was definitely a struggle! But I did it! I made it. Currently I'm still alive... But wow. I don't know where it's come from... And not just physically but mentally struggling to function! I'm just absolutely exhausted. Keen for a night on the couch and movies! Probably all I'll be doing all weekend!

2012 in review...

Came accross this over on WordPress and decided I would fill it out...

What was 2012 for you?
1. What did you do in 2012 that you’d never done before?
Right now I can't be bothered to go into it...
2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't make any 'New Years Resolutions' last year. I think I may have meant to... but it just didn't happen...
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
I have a new little cousin and one of my friends also had a little cutie. I think that's all...
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No one that I am particularly close to but certainly some significant losses.
5. What countries did you visit?
The furtherest I have travelled is Adelaide! Exciting I know!
6. What would you like to have had in 2013 that you lacked in 2012?
More partying and a better social life and the ability to be more flexible and spontaneous!
7. What dates from 2012 will remain etched upon your memory and why?
... the 20th of October because so much preparation and time went into organising my twenty-first party which I had that night. The 12/12/12 just because of it's rarity. I actually can't think of any others...
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Winning not one but two netball premierships with two totally different but fun teams as well as winning Best & Fairest in one of the teams. That was a massive achievement for me. Something I am extremely proud of.
Fitting into a size 6 dress for my twenty-first. It wasn't a goal I'd made but after going on a health kick since September 2011 to have actually gone down two dress sizes was quite exciting for me! I've never been massively over weight but was definitely chubby in pre-teens and I know we all tend to be negative about our own body image and quite often the skinniest people till look in the mirror and believe themselves to be fat. But if you told me when I was a chubby feeling 12 year old that I would get into a size 6 dress one day I would not have believed it were possible.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Relationships I guess. Not taking time to do more of my personal projects that I am constantly adding to my list of things to do but never actually doing!
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Apart from colds and a really bad flu at one point I got off pretty well on the illness and injury front.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Probably my iPhone. Finally bit the bullet and now I don't know why I could have wanted anything different! I also bought this really nice Maxi skirt that gets compliments every time I wear it so I must have made a good choice on that one!
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Many.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Hmmm...
14. Where did most of your money go?
Probably chocolate and sweets! Wow that is a sad confession...
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Gossip Girl Season 5 on DVD! Watching The Hunger Games and reading those books. Completing my entry for The Southern Cross Packaging Awards.
16. What song will always remind of you 2012?
Hmmmmmm...
17. Compared to this time last year, are:
a)happier or sadder?
b)thinner or fatter?
c) richer or poorer?
Happier.
Thinner.
Money Wise? Poorer. In general life richness. Richer. So much Richer!
18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Partying! My personal projects as I said before. I wish I could read more than I do. And absorb more information better.
19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
I'm can't think of anything.... which is odd...
20. Did you fall in love in 2012?
Yes! With the Hunger Games! With Andrew Garfield as Spiderman... With My Sisters Keeper. My iPhone. Instagram. InDesign. InDesign is amazing. The Temper Trap. Ball Park Music. And various other objects, programs and characters!
21. What was your favourite TV program?
Offspring. New Girl. Packed to the Rafters.
22. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
Idont like to think about not liking people.

23. What was the best book you read?
My Sisters Keeper. The Hunger Games.
24. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Ball Park Music. I had already known about them but I definitely really got into them at the end of the year. And the Temper Trap.
25. What did you want and get?
Quite a lot of things when I think about it.
26. What did you want and not get?
I wanted to go to the snow and I never got there....
27. What was your favourite film of this year?
Like Crazy. Pitch Perfect. Friends With Benefits.
28. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned the grand age of 21 and had a big party and a lot of fun!
29. How you would describe your personal fashion concept in 2012?
Skirts. I practically always wear skirts and my combat style boots. They're just my favourite. And my purple raincoat. It has been work so much it's ridiculous!
30. What kept you sane?
Junk food binging! It's bad to say but I have total self control throughout the week but it was always a very guilty pleasure when I got into the junk on weekends!
31. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Andrew Garfield. Oh. My. Goodness!
32. Who did you miss?
My family. My friends. I always miss people. There are always many people to be missed!
33. Who was the best new person you met?
Awww.... There may be quite a few actually!
34. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2012.
That sometimes the best things really do come from where you very least expect them to.
35. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
Tonight
We are young
So let’s set the world on fire
We can burn brighter than the sun

Corny I know but I really loved fun.'s songs this year!
Stolen from Here.

She's kind of my Hero...

I may be biased but she definitely has talent!

This actually brings me to tears! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. <3

Sunday Bliss

So the night was restless to say the least but eventually I was sick of it and got up at about 9 (had set the alarm for half past). This actually worked out really well because I managed to get ready for my Brunch date with two of my favourite people an make a bus (frustrating how buses are so infrequent on Sundays!) which meant everything timed in perfectly and I've just had the best Sunday!

After a glorious brunch with my girlfriends at a cafe I hope we make a regular spot outside in some wonderfully lovely weather I headed on back down to Flinders to venture back home and as I was passing by the NGV the wind was blowing and I was glad I was wearing my cute blue maxi skirt and not a short one. Anyway, was about to pass this girl and she was smiling at me as she exclaimed "your skirt is f#%^ing beautiful! You look amazing!". I was so flattered and thanked as we crossed paths and went on my way with the biggest smile and a lovely fuzzy feeling. Isn't it nice to receive compliments from absolute strangers?!

Then I decided spontaneously to visit the gallery! Be more spontaneous is one of my "new years resolutions" and I wandered through in total awe! It was wonderful. Why have I only bee. There for a function in the past?! I do believe I would like to wonder through there quite frequently! The Ballet & Fashion exhibition is amazing! Along with the other amazing work featured throughout. Inspired to the max! Though I only very briefly went through that one. And by the time I got to browsing the store it was nearly closing time so I didn't get to have the best look in there. There seemed to be a lot of cool stuff and books in that place! Never fear! I shall return.

Had a lovely dinner and evening with the fantastic people I reside with before doing a bit of cleaning and now I'm all settled in with my new Peter Alexander pjs and my ice-cream and chocolate! Bliss!

Why am I awake?!

Why the fudge am I awake at 4am on a Sunday morning when I'm not even out partying?! What is wrong with me?

I was rather sad last night as my Saturday night plans fell through and a depression hit me. Plans falling through is just never fun. Especially at the last minute. But then I did something spontaneous! Well, for me it was. I went for a run! It may sound strange that this is something I'm actually super proud of but I NEVER just go for a run. Like just put on your runners and go. It was actually kind of perfect as the cool change had come through and it wasn't too hot and was actually quite windy. Even did some Yoga! Back at the gym for two days (started back Thursday) after being away for three weeks over the festive season so I can definitely feel every stretch! But it always feels good to be getting back into it. Had taken my runners home for the holidays but honestly they never came out of my suitcase! Though I did sneak a few squats and steps into milking so I didn't do absolutely nothing but a lot less than my usual training. Which I was constantly telling myself was ok. I probably did need to give my body a recovery break as ever since my September 2011 health kick began I really haven't taken many breaks and especially over the last 8-9 months even though my yoga teacher was telling me that I needed to rest. So there! I've rested!

Anyway, then of course as always when I'm exercising I had many ideas running through my mind and was going to come home and do lots of things. Then I got home and decided to watch Ratatouille. (thank you cousin who received the Disney collection box set for Christmas!) And that was it. Nothing else really got done. But I shall have to write a list and hopefully do something about some of it today. If I can function after this rude awakening that has resulted in chats with one of my poor sick sisters and me downloading the blogger app to my iPhone!

Best go back to trying to sleep as I actually do have plans and need to get up at a reasonable hour tomorrow! ... Whoops, today actually.

Wrap it up

Happy New Year! 2013 is here and 2012 and all it's ups and downs failures and successes, amazing memories and dismal experiences are all wrapped up, saved to the hard disk and archived for future preference.

What's 2013 going to bring for you? If your like me you probably had every good intention of making some resolutions and such New Yers things and for whatever reason didn't quite actually make them... I'm still going to make some though... Tomorrow.

Anyway, hope your new years was as lovely as mine celebratined in style and brought in with family and friends! Best wishes for the year to come!
